December 14, 2015
The busy month of December is in full swing!
We are combining language arts and social studies as we read and discuss the book The Southeast. Using their laptops, the students are creating movies to display the information they have learned from their individual inquiry projects about this region. I look forward to viewing their movies about theme parks, sports teams, and animals and plants of the Southeast.
In math the students have enjoyed participating in the game “Math Quest” as we have studied division. We are now working on a short number theory and problem solving unit. Right after Winter Break we will begin our study of fractions.
Our Holiday Program will be on Thursday evening, December 17, at 6:30. The children should meet me in our classroom at 6:15. Our class holiday party will be on Friday afternoon, December 18.
Thanks to the many parent volunteers who have helped with various activities during the last few weeks, including those who accompanied us on our field trip to The Works and planned our class parties.
This Friday, December 18, I will collect the students’ laptops to keep in the classroom during our vacation. School will reconvene on Monday, January 4. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or questions. I wish you all a joyful and safe Winter Break.
